B&W Tulips

This was just a vase of yellow tulips -- had fun playing with it. :)
(signed with "Benni" as that is the name I use in my art group)

River Crossing

I'm not sure if I like the 'slats' effect here or not.
It is an interesting effect but takes away from the full photo.

Amidst The Flowers

Amidst The Flowers

Dream
amidst the flowers
of you
and me.
What can be
hope to be.
Yearning
sighing ....

Flowers in the Bubble Bath

Now, I'd love a bubble bath like this! :)

Free

Free

I only wanted to hold it a moment
Before it took flight
I had gazed at it often
It had brought me such delight,

It's amber and black wings
So vibrant and light
Flitting from flower to flower
Hour upon hour
In the bright sunlight,

Then so cautiously I approached
Afraid to breathe
Afraid it would leave
It seemed to sense my eyes so intense
It became so very still,

I reached gently to hold it
No, it wasn't to be
We cannot capture beauty such as that
It must not be kept selfishly
For it was made by gentler hands
For all the world to see.

Missing Piece

Missing Piece

For years I have been fixing this mess of a jigsaw life.
Going through, and studying each piece.
Fitting them in, trying to find my base,
My corners.
And when I saw where something didn’t fit,
I found the problems.
And sorted them out
Things in the wrong place.
Some pieces didn’t fit.
And a few pieces were broken,
And needed to be fixed,
But over the years
I have gotten to the point,
Where it resembles the picture it should.
It is near complete, and I know the gaps.
I can see the shapes of the pieces that need to be found.
But I can’t see them.
I seem to be a piece missing.
I can feel that hole.
But can’t see where the missing piece is.

I am missing a piece.
And it is haunting me
Like a shadow,
That is still seen in the night.

Pretty in Pink

Pink petals passing
Scents above so high
Painted porcelain perfection
Blossoms caress the sky
Swaying silent shroud
Suitors strolling by
Pink petals passing
Lover's gentle sigh
Pastel hues falling
Slow fluttering grace
Pink petals passing
Lining streams in lace
Pink petals passing
Smoothest transit by
Soft essence floating
In most subtle lullaby
Inducing springtime slumber
Upon a satin shore
Sailing with the current
Pink petals pass before

Ripples

Ripples

Drop a pebble in the water:
just a splash, and it is gone;
But there’s half-a-hundred ripples
Circling on and on and on,
Spreading, spreading from the center,
flowing on out to the sea.
And there is no way of telling
where the end is going to be.

Drop an unkind word, or careless:
in a minute you forget;
But there’s little waves a-flowing,
and there’s ripples circling yet,
And perhaps in some sad heart
a mighty wave of tears you’ve stirred,
And disturbed a life was happy
ere you dropped that unkind word.

Drop a word of cheer and kindness:
in a minute you forget;
But there’s gladness still a-swelling,
and there’s joy circling yet,
And you’ve rolled a wave of comfort
whose sweet music can be heard
Over miles and miles of water
just by dropping one kind word.

Forest Flowers

Forest Flowers

That delicate forest flower
With scented breath, and look so like a smile,
Seems, as it issues from the shapeless mould,
An emanation of the indwelling Life,
A visible token of the upholding Love,
That are the soul of this wide universe.
